Teachery-hosted Comment Section

Currently, course creators can add a comment section using an outside service called Discus, which does not offer very good default privacy settings nor does it consistently email notifications when customers leave comments. Teachery-hosted comments would allow better privacy and notification settings.

Follow-up thoughts — what if Teachery could offer some Slack-like features? What if it could look a bit like Mighty Networks or Circle of some of these other community-hub style platforms that we are starting to see emerge? This would be a big project, I realize, but just thought I’d throw it out there. I love the idea of being able to get away from Facebook groups to provide community among those who take my course.

I vote for that as well, a simple comment system would be great, the alternative to disqus demands that the student have to login AGAIN after being already logged on the course's website. It is not ideal at all, since my students are less tech-savy, it is weird. I am working around this adding a Whatsapp widget on every page, so the student can send me messages and ask questions more fluidly, but even so, it offers them access to my phone, and does not offer the comments to be on the course page, accessible to all students to see.

Hi Joy Morin 😊. We admit, Disqus isn't the best option, but it is a great free option! Have you tried the other service we recommend in the Disqus help doc called CommentBox.io? It could be a better solution: https://help.teachery.co/en/articles/785287-adding-comments-disqus-to-your-courses
